It’s our fourth year for the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Deaf Arts Grant!

OPEN CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS!

Now to October 31, 2025, we are now accepting film submissions for our 8th biennial Seattle Deaf Film Festival (SDFF) in Seattle, WA.

Deaf Spotlight believes in cultivating a vibrant community of Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled and Hard of Hearing filmmakers, actors, writers, and producers. We welcome any and all filmmakers from the Deaf community to participate.

To submit your film for consideration, please read the film criteria guidelines below to learn how to submit your film to be considered for the festival. For further questions please email the Festival Director at sdff@deafspotlight.org. To request a Fee Waiver, please fill out the form. Thank you!

We require all films to be submitted online. If your film cannot be submitted online, please contact the festival director at sdff@deafspotlight.org as soon as possible before the submission deadline to discuss alternatives.

Deaf Youth Drama Experiences 

Join our exciting Deaf Youth Drama Experiences in 2025, a dynamic and inclusive creative series of workshops for young Deaf individuals interested in theater and performing arts. Over the course of the year, students will explore the world of drama while developing a variety of skills, including acting techniques, stagecraft, and collaborative storytelling

Activities include: 

  • Acting workshops in ASL where students will learn to express emotion and character. 

  • Improvisation exercises to build quick thinking, creativity, and team communication. 

  • Scene work to practice blocking, character development, and delivering compelling performances. 

  • Stage production basics, such as lighting, sound, costume design, props, and set design, to learn how to bring a show to life. 

  • Collaborative projects where students work together to create and perform original works. 

By the end of the program, students will have developed confidence in their acting abilities and stage presence, enhanced their communication and expressive skills, and built lasting friendships in a supportive environment. 

If you're a Deaf/CODA youth with an interest in drama and performing arts, sign up to participate in our workshops offered on specific dates in 2025.

INSTRUCTORS

Kai Winchester is a PNW native who has been involved in theater for 30 years, on and off the stage: actor, assistant stage manager, writer, sign coach, DASL - and now director. He is currently using his Master's degree in Deaf Education to rebuild the Deaf Youth Drama program with Seattle Children's Theater. 

 Anna Bracilano is a Washington State native, born in Seattle and raised outside of the city. Growing up, she was involved with Deaf Youth Drama Program, as an actress and stage crew with NTID Performing Arts and Gallaudet University Theatre. Supporting Deaf Spotlight Presents as an actress/crew since 2012.

Please fill out the form below with your name, your mailing address, and how many passes you would like to get. Each person can get up to 2 community passes. Each community pass will give you 6 tickets each. Your passes must be redeemed by the end of year 2025.

The passes can be redeemed at both locations: Seattle Art Museum (Downtown) and Seattle Asian Art Museum (Volunteer Park) during regular hours.
